Little Fella
Throwing His Weight Around
Can you believe
that we are already 1/3 of the way through the whale watching season for
2004 already!!!
Anyway we had
more great whale watching this week with lots of whales in the bay and
more mothers & calves are starting to arrive. The storms of the last
couple of days should be a signal to the younger whales that Spring is
here and it's time to start moving South to their Antarctic feeding
grounds. This will make room for the Bull humpbacks to start chasing the
females that are ready to work on making next years calves. Sometimes
the ladies take some convincing and the boys have to try and impress
them with lots of the exciting aerial manoeuvres that everyone loves to
see, so we can expect lots of fin slapping, tail lobs, peduncle throws
(like the picture above) and if we are lucky the majestic Breach (got to
be quick with the camera to catch more than a gig splash though.)
Last
weeks
question
was a bit technical so the prize is still available so I will roll
it over to this week ( BTW the answer was Tubercles). This weeks Quiz
Question: What
do you call the puff
of mist that you see when a whale breaths out?
.... The Prize this
week is a Quick Cat 2 Cap
& a gift box of yummy Macadamia Nougat from the Australian
Nougat Factory.
